Women Empowerment
At Obumwe Conservation Village, we believe that true community transformation begins with empowering women. Women are not only the caretakers of families but also the backbone of rural economies—yet, for generations, many have been excluded from decision-making and denied access to the tools that could uplift their lives. Our women’s empowerment project is designed to change that narrative by placing women at the center of development.
What We Do
Our initiatives focus on providing training, resources, and support to women in the community, enabling them to take on leadership roles and drive sustainable development.
Why It Matters
Empowered women create ripple effects that reach every corner of the community. When women earn income, they invest in their children’s education, improve family nutrition, and strengthen household resilience. By bringing women together through savings groups, farming collectives, and small enterprises, we are building unity, self-reliance, and dignity—the very meaning of Obumwe.
This empowerment also links directly to conservation. Women play a critical role in managing natural resources, from farming to water use. By giving them the skills and confidence to embrace sustainable practices, we ensure that conservation is rooted in daily life.

Our Vision
By supporting women, we are investing in the future of Obumwe Conservation Village—a future where women and men work side by side, where girls have equal opportunities, and where sustainable development is driven by the strength of all.
